Step-by-Step Instructions to Install Microsoft 365

Step 1: Sign In to Your Microsoft 365 Account

  1. Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Edge, Safari).
  2. Go to https://www.office.com.
  3. Click Sign in in the top-right corner.
  4. Enter your Microsoft 365 email and password:
  • This could be a personal Microsoft account (e.g., @outlook.com, @hotmail.com) or a work/school account provided by your organization.

Step 2: Access the Installation Page

  1. After signing in, click the App launcher icon in the top-right corner of the side panel
  2. Select "More apps"

  1. Select Install Office or Install apps.

  • This will begin downloading the installer (e.g., OfficeSetup.exe on Windows or a .pkg file on Mac).

⚠️ Note: If you don’t see the Install option, your organization may need to assign a license (for work/school accounts), or your subscription may not be active.

Step 3: Run the Installer

On Windows:

  1. Open the Downloads folder.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file (e.g., OfficeSetup.exe).
  3. Allow the app to make changes if prompted by User Account Control.
  4. Wait while Office installs (this may take several minutes).

On Mac:

  1. Open the Downloads folder.
  2. Double-click the downloaded .pkg file.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to install Microsoft 365.
  4. Enter your Mac password if prompted.

Step 4: Complete the Setup

  1. Once installation finishes, open any Microsoft app (e.g., Word, Excel).
  2. You may be asked to:
  • Accept the license agreement.
    • Sign in again with your Microsoft account (if not already signed in).
  1. Wait for the apps to finalize setup.

Step 5: Verify Installation

  1. Open Start Menu (Windows) or Applications folder (Mac).
  2. Look for apps like:
  • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
  1. Open one to confirm it launches correctly.
  2. You may need to login again to your MS 365 account while using the application (MS Word, Excel, etc.)

Additional Tips

  • ✅ Subscription Required: You need an active Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, Business, or Enterprise plan.
  • 🔄 Update Office: After installation, Office will automatically update via Microsoft Update (Windows) or the AutoUpdate tool (Mac).
  • 📱 Install on Other Devices: You can install MS 365 on up to 5 devices using the same account.
  • ❌ Troubleshooting:
    • If installation fails, ensure no older versions of Office are installed. Uninstall them first via Control Panel (Windows) or Applications folder (Mac).
    • Make sure you’re connected to the internet.
